Allen R. Smith

Allen spent most of his youth in Fairbanks, Alaska where his father was employed on the faculty of the University of Alaska. His family roots extend to Nevada and Utah.

Allen attended Brigham Young University where he earned a B.S. degree in Business Management and California Western School of Law and the University of New Mexico for his law degree.

Allen’s wife, Julie, has a Masters degree in Speech Pathology and has served many children throughout New Mexico in dealing with their speech problems.

Allen served a two year, volunteer mission for his church in New Mexico and first met the Payne family in Santa Fe where he was assigned to work.

Allen is an accomplished singer and with his wife and children often perform at public gatherings. Allen and Julie have six children.

Allen is active in community, church, and legal circles. He has served in youth programs, as a Bishop in the Mormon Church, as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Southwestern New Mexico Narcotics Task Force and as an officer and member of the Hidalgo County DWI Task Force.

Allen is the work horse of the Smith & Payne law firm. He and Julie are currently building a new home in Los Lunas, New Mexico where he can accommodate his children, future grandchildren and his in-laws in their old age.
